24" Raised Panel Door Re-Hang

Hello,
I am trying to rehang a turn of the 20th century raised panel door. Unfortunatly the previous owner had removed the door and removed all the jams and put in its place a 1x6. The rough door opening after removing the 1x6 is 27 1/2 inches wide and 72 inches tall. The door measures 24 x 71. My question is what should the door opening measure in width after the new jam is installed. Thanks in advance for your help.

24" Raised Panel Door Re-Hang

the door jamb itself should be 24 1/4 wide as to allow the door to properly open and close.. if your using raw wood thats unprimed yet make the header 24 5/16, this will allow for the thickness of 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of paint

sounds about right. If you went and purchased a pre hung door at 24", you would want your rough opening 3" wider for the new jambs, or 27"
The actual door would measure 23 3/4" wide.
