18x18 Tile backsplash

Has anyone used 18 inch tile for a kitchen backsplash?

We're remodeling our 20 year old kitchen. We're at the backsplash stage and we can't find anything we agree on. I'm worried about mixing too many textures. Our cabinets are Natural Cherry, our granite countertops are black and our floor tile is neutral (Florida Tile, Topeka Biscuit, 13x13). My husband suggested putting the same tile on the backsplash since they sell an 18x18 in the same style/color and would fill the area.

Can anyone tell me why we shouldn't do this?

That is pretty large tile for a backsplash.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

18x18 Tile backsplash

I personally like large tile for a backsplash, but I wouldn't go larger then the 13x13 on the floor.

I agree--It may look very nice---however the cutting for outlets and such might be a huge challenge for a novice tile setter---

Do you like the look?

Have you set a few pieces of the floor tile up there to see if it's a good look?
