I have a 1.5 car garage, but the previous owner put an addition on for a workshop. The old exterior wall is now an interior wall, and there is a doorway that seperates the old garage from the addition. I'll try to post some pics later so you can see what I am talking about. I've had the idea of converting the garage into a 2 car garage by removing the old exterior wall and resizing the garage door to accomodate a 2 car door. What are the chances the old exterior wall is a load bearing wall? Anything I should look out for? TIA!
Thats what I figured. My Dad said that if it is load bearing, my best bet, if I were to remove the wall, would be to put in supporting posts. The only problem with that is that if I put the posts in where the wall is, they'd be in the way of the car entering on the right side of the garage. Might have to just live with a 1.5 for now until I can afford to rebuild
Sorry, just realized this is the kitchen and bath remodeling forum. I submitted this through the phone app so all I saw was remodeling. My bad! If an admin could please redirect this post, I'd greatly appreciate it. Sorry for the inconvenience
