Wood Garage Doors DIY


Is it possible to make your own steel door have the wood appearance like the expensive doors?? Is it not just a facia applied to the door anyways?? you know like these ones... anybody try it??

You need a pretty stout door to carry the extra weight of the facing---I doubt if a light weight steel door will do that---you will need to move the track back 3/4 of an inch to accommodate the thicker door.

I suggest that you look at a door with the applied face and see how it was done.

Call a door manufacturer--as what door is made to have the applied face---Mike---

That rapper Vanilla Ice just did this exact thing on his remodeling show. It is on the DIY channel. I did not think it looked very good. probably looks ok from 50feet away.

Those stickers are funny... I like the horse one

I actually saw a stained door upclose on a house in the city and it looked good.. might do that instead. I think the weight is alittle to much for the existing door too.

Vanilla ice project... Yeah I hope he sold the house before it aired.. cause YEESH...
