Wood Doors with MDF floorboards and door frames?

Hello,

I just bought my first home. It has gorgeous Brazilian wood floors and white MDF floorboards, doors, door frames, and molding.

The top floor is one, large open room with a series of six plain MDF doors leading to bedrooms, the bathroom, the laundry room, and a closet. As such, the doors are a major visual component of the design of the home. I've attached a photo to give you an idea of what I'm working with.

I'd like to dress up the look of the home, and lessen the somewhat cheap, low quality feel of the interior (which is offset by the floor) by installing higher quality, six panel doors on each of the six openings. With MDF throughout the home, need I worry about high quality white wood doors looking out of place in MDF door frames? Should I bite the bullet and put wood throughout? Buy the six panel MDF doors?

The place is only 765 square feet. I'd like to make it look nice, or at least nicer, the first time and not have to go back and redo it if the wood doors look out of place and I need to replace the door frames and molding.

Along those lines, I'd like to do crown molding or wainscoating in a few of the rooms - any thoughts on MDF vs. wood, or the impact of mixing MDF for the ceiling with wood for the floors or door frames if that need be done?

Thanks so much for your advice!

Sincerely,

New Owner in Denver

Can you spot the mdf that was used in these pictures?
Its not everywhere but is used extensively. Mdf paints well and makes for very good panels.
be careful to caulk and paint well and keep it dry. It is a good product when used properly

Forgive me for being confused. There's no such thing as MDF floor boards, so I'm guessing you meant MDF baseboards. There's no way anyones going to know there MDF of wood. The house looks fine the way it is.

Sounds like an MDF obsession. MDF is as low as it goes next to plastic I think. It is also susceptible to damage from high humidity over time in a lot of cases. If the door frames are MDF are they not clad with a veneer wood. How do you know the door frames are MDF?
