wood acclimation


I just got a new oak stair system including treads, handrail, newel post, and spindles. Does the wood need to acclimate to the house before installing?

Agreed...oak doesn't move around too much much if you can get that stuff warmed up, or cooled down I suppose, it's always better.

5-7 days is what I have done in the past for hardwood flooring.

A moisture meter is the only sure way but allowing it acclimate in conditioned house for a week will get you close.
