Where can I buy this picture moulding?

I buried this question in another thread of mine, but I'd like to ask a wider audience with this one..... :whistling2:

I would like to buy picture/wall moulding that is similar to this. I am having a hard time finding it.

Thanks for any suggestions....

A real live lumber yard could find it for you.:)

Go to a real lumber yard with your picture. They will have millwork catalogs and can order what you need.

I called 84 Lumber and they referenced me to this catalog which doesn't have it.

The I called Builder's First Source, and they gave me their catalog, which was even more limited than 84 Lumber's selection.

Which is why I am asking here.........:whistling2: ?????

I guess these aren't **REAL** lumber yards?

It looks more like a chair rail moulding. Like Bud said. Take your picture to a true lumber store and they will be able to match it for you. No way you will find this in Home Depot or Lowes.

Okay now we have to define "real live lumber yard".

Home Depot, Lowe's, Menard's, Builder's, 84, are not real live lumber yards these days.:) They are competing home centers. Is there not a small old fashion lumber yard in your area where none of the employees wear aprons?:)

Sometimes you actually need to get off the phone and computer to get things accomplished.

You got That Right!!!!

Go to a real Lumber yard, not a big box store and they will be able to help you match it.

If you care to do some interent searching I am sure you can find the profile that you are looking for. You need to know the dementions of the trim you are looking for. I believe in the phone and the internet as search vehicles. Sometimes you dont always get where you want to go but, it is easier.

noone where are you? What city? Don't get cagey just tell us what city and state you are in.:)

Sometimes real live lumber yards suck as bad as home centers.

I love bashing the home center stores, but unless you are lucky enough to have a great lumber yard with Sam Drucker running the place, they can be terrible places to go.

I've had "real lumber yards" look at me in disgust when they find out I am not a contractor with 12 houses being built.

So, rather than bash the home centers, I feel it necessary to begin bashing the generation that we live in.

Long live Petticoat Junction.

Real lumber yards no longer receive the volume discounts from their suppliers like they used to and like they really still deserve. A lot of the volume has been lost to the newer higher volume home centers. A single person in there wanting to negotiate the higher price of 2 X 4 doesn't pay their rent.

If you don't like the looks you get in a real lumber yard then keep browsing the home centers looking for things you will never find there. The places are good exercise.

If you want reliable information from knowledgeable stores then put up with a look of disgust once in a while. If you want bad information and lies from stone headed macaroni and cheese experts then continue to shop the home centers.

Jacksonville, FL

I need to plan my pickup of this wood carefully so I can grab it and go straight home since I will be hanging it out the front window of our full size suv.

So I am trying to plan ahead so that I don't have to drive out there multiple times since it is on the opposite side of town I live on. I live at the beaches, eastside and the lumber yards that I know of are northwest and west side.

Bud Cline 09-21-2011 07:18 PM

Okay, so now you know of a lumber yard in your area?

Don't all SUV's have racks on top? Can't remember seeing any that didn't but can't remember for sure.:)

You can always sling it under the vehicle.:)

I only know of pseudo lumber yards, 84 Lumber and Builder's First Source. I always thought of these as 'real' lumber yards, but what do I know.....

Bud Cline 09-21-2011 07:52 PM

See if this helps. I could only find thirty of them but of course some of them have to be eliminated.:)
