want to install punching bag

humberguy Member   Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 134	want to install punching bag i live in a bungalo house, i want to put a punching bag up. I think the bag weighs 150 lbs. i live on the main floor with the attic in the ceiling. Can the joists support the bag or do i have to put more support?

Can the joists support the bag or do i have to put more support? they will support 150lbs. they will however deflect under the weight, creating cracks/nail pops. if you're concerned about that, throw something in the attic to carry the load.
