Wall lamps and chair rail

Hi,

I'm putting up chair rail in my bedroom and also want to have swing-arm wall/reading lamps by the bed. Normally the way to hide the electric cords on these lamps is with some sort of "decorative" casing that attaches to the wall. In my case, I have a chair rail that sits between the outlet on the floor and the mounting point on the wall where the lamp will attach. Any ideas how these two (char rail + wall lamp) can co-exist together?

Tx!

Put the cord behind the bed and forget about it. lol.

If you can remove the chair rail you can back cut a groove with a table saw or dado blade. Hopefully the "decorative" wire cover is shallower than the chair rail.
