wall with coved ceiling

I have an older home (blt early 40's) and I am removing wall between kitchen and dining room I have already removed ceramic tile, incl. cement and wire mesh, the wall I want to remove has a coved ceiling on the DR side - my desire is to remove the cove so both ceilings become one continuous ceiling - I need instructions on how to remove the coved potion of the ceiling - can I cut out the cove with a reciprocating saw or is there a better way of doing this, and is there anyway the corner can be smothed or removed - I am a do it yourself grandmother that doesn't mind getting dirty - any suggestions. thanks pat.

What makes you think you can just remove this wall? It may be a load bearing. What’s above the wall? Are there joist sitting on top of the wall? What do your plans say?

I had a contractor verify it was not load bearing - nothing over it and it is opposite of beams in basement - did my homework first - so now fellows what is a girl to do next. thanks pdh

OK Grandma Pat! Good for you! Assuming the cove is wood, use a utility knife to score the paint line horizontally above and below the cove where it touches the wall. Now get a SMALL flat bar and a rigid 6-in-1 paint tool and start prying carefully. Use a hammer to tap the prybars between the moulding...and I mean TAP! You should prepare to patch some small nail holes.
