Vinal Siding repair

I want to remove vinal siding on a porch to check for possible wood damage. How can this be done without damaging the vinal siding? If so, what are the steps I need to take for the removal.

There's quite a few video's on youtube that will show you how to do this. It's pretty simple and may seem harder than it is. There is a tool for unhooking the overlapped siding....but can be done without it. It's not bad at all.

This is not a hard job to do, and as stated there is a special tool for "unhooking" the siding from each other. These are inexpensive and worth their weight in gold when needed. One suggestion: As you remove each piece, either number them or stack them so they go back exactly where they were removed. Ask me how I learned this one. David

Those tools are pretty easy to find, even the box stores carry them. Vinyl siding can take a beating as long as its not very cold out, so you shouldn't have any probs. Just be sure to follow Thurman's advice and keep track of the order that they were removed unless they're all cut the same.
