veneer plywood (delaminating)
is it normal for birch/maple veneer plywood to start delaminating simply from spending 2-3hrs in a dry garage(60+degree) while,it was sprinkling rain outside! I have never had anything happen like that before. I did not inspect for popped veneer.I think it may have been like that when I bought it. (lowes) thanks! for any input. whew!! newbie:)

Take it back. It is defective.

I agree, it's defective.

Of course, I would say the same thing had you just said, "I bought some plywood at Lowes."

I know it's rarely as convenient, but I'd look around for a better source of lumber, especially sheet goods. There can be significant differences in the veneer and adhesive quality between big box store products and other sources. And for some reason, the higher-quality lumber isn't more expensive.

that only happens when its been wet for extended periods of time or it was abused during transport

I respectfully disagree.

We have had problems with panels de-laminating for no other reason than the lack of glue between veneers.

Every mill has production problems like this from time to time. It is usually limited to a a short period of time in the plant but it happens and it sucks when it does.

It helps to have a good relationship with your supplier during times like that.

I managed a lumber yard, we used to buy the stuff delaminated, well some of it would be, got a really good price on it.
