Vaulted Crown Molding - HELP!

Folks - I'm new to forum, not sure this is addreessed somewhere but I am having a hard time hanging crown molding in a vaulted or catehedral ceiling, Geometry was never my strong suit. I have read several articles on several different ways to do it, but I'm looking to see if anyone has a "trick of the trade" if you know what I mean.

I also have the cut-n-crown jig system, but the DVD really doesn't explain it that well. If someone has used this system to hang it - let me know. http://www.cutncrown.com

Any advice or solutions would be helpful.

I cant directly help, but a few weeks ago someone mentioned a book that is supposed to help with crown on vaulted ceilings. Do some searching and you should find it. Good Luck.

Crown moulding has reduced many a person to tears, add yet another angle, a vaulted ceiling, and many professionals will take it slow. Here is something you might want to check out:

I got the book and the true angle tool at Home Depot. That said it took me forever to get the hang of it and I'm sure a pro would laugh. Just keep going slow. No walls are true there will be a lot of fine tuning.

Insalling Crown Molding

Anyone who has used Cut N Crown. Are the Jigs worth $40 each? Would you recommend anything else? I have a 10" compound miter saw and I can"t use the Bench Dog because the housing on my saw will hit when I miter right side. And I can't use 5" molding unless I lay it flat. Is there an easy way to lay it flat and cut for vaulted ceilings? All help will be appreciated. I am new at this but look forward to trying. Thanks all
