A variety of used carpentry tools

I'm trying to research tools used by a 35+ year carpenter. He has a wide variety of tools he used. He also has handmade tool boxes he designed himelsef that he used on all his jobs. He has ALOT of tools. He also did interior home improvements and some woodworking crafts that he has tools he used in the trade. I've been all over the internest and I'm trying to find the best place to look for a price so that his wife can resell the items at a fair price. Any ideas for a site to use ( besides Craig List or Amazon) that could aid her in pricing the items? Everyting from basics ( hammers, nails, screws, screwdrivers, etc.) to electric saws, floor saws, electric drills, flooring gun and nails, etc.) he currently has in stock. It needs to go! Thnaks for any help! Will

Just put it on Ebay and it will reach the correct price by auction. What something is worth is simply what someone is willing to pay for it, period. Most people have a very inflated idea of what their "Stuff" is worth.

About the best you can expect is 40% of the new value on a good day.
Old outdated steel cased power tools, take what you can get.

Depending on what they are, some of them are no longer available, and thus quite rare. True craftsman will pay good money to get some of them. Researching what they are and how much in demand they are would be extremely beneficial. Unfortunately there is not a good source for this type of information that I'm aware of.

You can get an idea of fair market price, by searching the closed ebay auctions. That's what many of the pawn shops do.

Can you post an inventory list and some pictures of the tools and custom made toolboxes in the tools section of this site? I would be willing to help you identify and value them if I can. I am sure others would too. I have friends that make very high-end studio furniture and might be interested in looking over what you have as well.

You may have some real treasures if the collection includes hand scrapers, contour cutting planes and things. There may be antique value to some too. I still have one of my grandfather's planes around here somewhere that may have been passed down to him. Beautifully made thing.
