used vinyl windows with broken nail fin


i am building a 192sf building and want to use vinyl windows that were removed from my home and the nail fins were cut off in the removal. can these be installed and made waterproof. there are 4 double hung and 1 slider. please use simple language as i am just learning to build and do not have all the terminology.

Yes you can.

Think about a old single hung window with a sloped sill. Those sashes are held in with wood stops within a wood frame.

You would install your windows the same way. You would need to build a frame with a sloped sill and install your windows within that frame sandwiched between 1x stops on the inside and out.
