I normally don’t waste my time responding to comments on my videos. People have their own views and that’s that. However l think l need to clear a couple of things up.

First of all, the end result was a perfect internal corner. There wasn’t a gap visible. I can’t see a problem with that.

Secondly l am aware that a continuous cope is by far better than a segmented one which is what l did in the video. I refer to that in the video. A continuous cope is a much harder skill for the learner to deal with. That is who the video is directed at. In the video l did the segmented cope to show that you don’t have be a master of the craft and that anyone can tackle the task. I doubt any of you “experts” could have completed a perfect continuous cope around an ornate object when you first started out.

The main part of a cope that needs to be spot on is the leading edge of the shape. As long as you 'back cut' the cope (which l mentioned in the video) it doesn’t necessarily matter how messy the back of the cut is.

Thirdly, l’m not sure how many of you “experts” have tried to video tape yourself doing a skill while trying to not get in the way of the shot. It is quite difficult and as a consequence you can’t get in the position you normally would to execute the task.

And fourthly, aahhh Bud Cline, it was only a matter of time before another of your inane (just in case you aren’t aware of the meaning of the word, it pertains to ‘having little sense or importance, empty or insubstantial) statements filtered through. Surely a little more constructed comment could have been posted. Any poorly educated fool could post what you did.

This would be interesting, how about a couple of you “experts” put your money where your mouths are and submit some videos of your own and let us pass some ‘judgement’ on you. Should be good for a laugh.

It’s amazing how brave you can be behind the anonymity of a keyboard.

All I can say Mr. Knickers is YOU could use a little more practice. How anyone could be so pampas as to make a video of himself hacking a piece of wood and then basically declaring it [well done] is beyond me. YOU (my friend) raise mediocrity to an all new level.

That demonstration is exactly what is wrong with this world these days, it displays a "Good Enough" attitude as if good enough is all that is necessary these days. Why don't you aspire to become the Master Craftsman you admit you are not?

Come on give the guy a break. He made a good point, if you don't think much of his efforts make one yourself. I think his skills still need some refinement but doesn't give you license to be unconscionably rude.

For anyone practicing coping and wanting to cut along the edge in one nice cut- what I found helpful was to outline the profile with a pencil, then follow the pencil line with your saw, makes the profile a bit more visible I guess.

Ok. I am totally a Noob when it comes to DIY. I personally prefer to hear the "correct" way to do something. What I do find helpful is someone showing the correct way and then saying if your having difficulty with this here's an adaptation that will work. I don't think your being pompous, I just think it's good to show the pro way and then an alternate way as well.
