twig railings

I am currently building a log home and would like to build twig railings. I plan to use 3 1/2 to 4" log rails for the top and bottom of the railing and in-fill open area with twigs (3/4-1" thick branches). Wanting to learn what wood species works best and how the twigs were prepared (peeled, sanded, etc). Thanks

Is this project going to need to pass inspection?

Make Simple, Beautiful Garden Fences and Trellises

http://www.diychatroom.com/f14/twig-...en-fences.aspx

The same woven twigs used to make wattle fences can be used to create rings ... can transform green sticks into pretty trellises, fence panels and plant supports.

The above was info I copied for you. Try that link.
I found several sites by googling 'making stuff with twigs' . Found lovely photos but few had specific directions. I saw some with bark and some without. An internet search should help if no one here has the answer.

Don't know what happened to my link but obviously I did not post a link to this page.

Also noticed lately corrections to posts have a time limit.
