trying to make my own bunkie board - first timer here
I am trying to make a full-size bunkie board for my bed, 54"x75". I want to buy six 2x4x10 pieces of Douglas Fir, cut them into 54" pieces, and string them together as 12 pieces for the slats.
The way I see it, if they're 3.5" true length, the 12 pieces would take up 42" of the bed, leaving 33" of space not covered, or 3" for each of the 11 gaps made. Is this too much spacing between them? Would this wood be strong enough to support two large adults?
