thoughts on deck addition.

Last year my mother had a cedar deck put in.
she would like to put up a cedar lattice for vines to grow for privacy and was wondering if someone had an opinion or a suggestion. here are the dimensions.

this is basic concept. most of it would be in cedar and i would try to match the deck profile as closely as possible.

What is odd to me is that it goes off the deck and into the ground. Without seeing it in person, I'm not sure how balanced that looks. My one thought is to add a trellis that is already made. I think that might look more natural than trying to attach lattice the way you have it shown. But, again, it may just be the picture that's throwing me off.

ya. that was kinda bugging me. i dont know if you can see in the picture but i would try extending th e deck skirt around underneath for the lattice to sit on. It's kind of a odd setup but the running vines are startign to grow and my mom wants to grow them up to the pergula on the deck. she wants something in cedar to match the deck somewhat. I'm not really a designer so thats why i wanted an opinion. anyone else have thoughts or ideas
