Stringer Problems
 

Termites damage in parents ranch.Had to replace steps.House 55 yrs old.Father had paneled over stringers and put a panel between each step to hide storage area under steps.Handy man did bad job.Main problem that existing lumber for stringers only 2 inches wide and am told it is no longer available at 2 and a half.When I put old step in see there is about a half inch difference between old and new steps.Panel won't fit.Do I add one inch to one existing stringer or can I find a new 3 inch wide piece custom made to make it as it was before? Going crazy on this...everyone telling me different stories...and wildly different prices...an alot of dishonesty.... Can this be solved....??? jim
