This is my first post.
I am trying to layout a stair stringer for my brother in laws barn.He has 98 inches for a total rise and 96 inches for a total run. What would I put my square at to achieve to meet those dimensions. He is using 2 x 10 x12feet long for his stringers
That staircase would not meet code as it would be very steep.
That would be 12 rises and 11 runs @ 8.16 rise x 8.73 run.
The bottom rise would be cut short by the thickness of the tread.
Also, you'll need to use 2x12s not 2x10.
My first staircase cost me twice as much in materials because, "I do it right because I do it twice!"
I tear things down and build them up.
