Stairway skirtboard

One of our members had a good idea for designing and using a stairway skirtboard template. However, I need to know more of the A-Z details on building and installing stairway skirtboards. Please, any help appreciated.

you need to be more specific.
are you referring to a mitered skirtboard for an open staircase, or a wall skirtboard? if it's going against a wall and the stairs haven't been built yet, it's as easy as simply nailing up a piece of trim in the right place with the right angles mitered on the ends.
if it's trying to be retrofitted or if it's a mitered skirtboard being built i would put this task in the "very challenging" category if you want to pull it off in a way that looks pro.
it's pretty much all about marking the board in place with either a site-built "preacher", or compass/pencil or whatever works, and then very carefully cutting it.

you need to provide more info on what you're looking to do, and/or go out and by a book on how to build stairs.

I agree with schmolze, we need more details as there are just too many different applications for skirt boards as there are so many different styles stairs. Also note if the skirt is for a left hand open stairs with a mitered skirt, you will need a left hand circular saw. I know this sounds like a joke but there is a left handed circular saw, I have two of them.

YEVRAH, this is the way I post a picture. When you hit reply to post you will see the box where to type your message, if you scroll down a little you will see a box that says "manage attachments". Click on that box and upload from a file where the picture is and there ya go. You may have to resize your picture.
