stair spindles


does anyone know of a surefire formula for calculating the amount of spindles required and what the spacings for said spindles would be

Divide the length by the distance the spindles will be spaced.

Here the code is that a 4 inch sphere cannot pass through the space in between the spindles.

So if you have contours in your spindles you have to take that into account.

Ya'll prolly know this already, but the 4" space is so a child can't get their head stuck in there.
