solatube questions

i understand that there is a 30% tax credit on the purchase of solatubes by year end. do they have to be installed by year end? the weather is getting too cold for work on the roof and will not be warn enough until spring. can we still purchase the solatubes and claim the credit even though we are not installing them untl spring?
thanks for all input. still new at this forum idea so hope i did it right.....

You'll get a dated receipt for the tubes which is the only item the credit is based on.

solatube questions

There is conflicting info in this regard. I'd consult an accountant rather than a contractor before making your decision... the stimulus bill calls for the product to be "in service" prior to Dec 31, while the IRS verbiage requires it to be purchased by Dec 31. Take that for what its worth.
