Is a small notch in a wind brace ok?

I am running new electrical lines and just finished cutting out holes for my new boxes. I have wind braces in the walls and when removing one of the old boxes I found out that it is slightly notched in one area so they could get the box to fit. The brace is a 1x6 and the area that is notched kind of makes a L shape. It is about a 1 inch by 1 inch area that has been notched. Does this hurt the integrity of the brace? Thanks.

Yes you will be ok A 1" notch in a 1x6 will be ok.
Most wind braces are 1x4 stock anyway.

I totally agree with Buletbob. The wind braces work in tension and compression depending on the loads, but there's plenty of meat left in your 1x6 to do the job with no problem.
