Slate or cement sealer used on timber deck

Is there a reason I can't use use slate/cement sealer on a timber deck?

I know it may sound strange but I like the fact that when slate is due for re sealing, there is really next to no prep work other than cleaning prior....and the new sealer is rolled over the old. Even if it took 3 or 4 times the first time....will it work??

slate is completely different from wood in its make up and porosity, etc... wood will not hold slate sealer like the slate will. get sealer made for wood...
