Shed Door Trim

I'm building a shed door - replacing an old, rotting Dutch door style with a single -piece door. Tho old one was plywood framed and trimmed with 1x4. I've framed it with 1x4 wood as before, but I'd like to use vinyl for the outside trim. I'm sure I have to use wood on the hinge side, but might I be able to use vinyl for the hasp side?

My property is densely wooded and near a river. Everything is barn red with white trim. As pieces of trim have become unsightly or unserviceable, I've been replacing with vinyl or Azek. ( fence pickets, etc).

Can vinyl stand up to a hasp and padlock?

Just need to use long enough screws that they go through the trim into the studs behind it. Just the vinyl will not work.
