Sawzall with Remgrit blade for cutting cement board

I was wondering how a sawzall with a Remgrit blade would work for cutting cement board? I know you can just score the board and break it, but I would prefer smooth cuts. I could use a grinder, but that seems like more work and it's very dusty.

Opinions?

Sawzall with Remgrit blade for cutting cement board

I use a wet cutting circular saw--with a soaking wet sponge slapped up against the blade.

Search results for: 'tile saw'

Use a smooth blade--the notched one tears up the sponge.--Mike--

Sawzall with Remgrit blade for cutting cement board

Normally I jump at any chance to buy a new tool, but after I'm done with my own bathroom I'm not sure if I'll ever need a wet cutting saw again.

You could always rent one for a day.

I wonder how a dremel would do on cement board with a tile bit.

I use a carbide tipped hand scoring tool for big cuts. Score it a few times and it snaps off pretty easy. For notches and any small cutouts, I just use my old sawzall blades with my sawzall. It goes right through. It will wear the teeth down after a few cuts, but that's why I use my old blades, then finally throw them out.

I'm with Mike..works like a charm. Saw is only $100 and you may use it later for tilework. Besides, owning a wetsaw is like owning a pickup truck...which is like winning the lottery...you be surprised how many friends you had and didn't know about
