sagging gate issue

Over the past two weeks, a friend and I built a privacy fence for him around his home, and everything looks absolutely perfect, except for one major flaw.. The gate is very saggy. The problem is that it's a total of 13ft. long, broke evenly into two swinging gates. I have checked up on the internet, and I read mixed reviews about the gate turnbuckles, so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem? I have included a really bad sketch of the gate, but I think that it will help illustrate what I am trying to explain.

Oh, and in case you're wondering why I would include something so irrelevant as the bushes, I added that into the sketch to show people why the gate post wasn't on the corner, so they didn't think we were completely retarded. Although we may still be

Thanks ahead of time for any insight you guys can offer us.

Even a narrower gate than yours will sag pretty reliably. I'd say the turnbuckle/eye bolts/cable system would be a good start. If that doesn't work you could have a truss-type frame welded up out of steel to fix to the gate

Gate Kits

Gate Kits are available which often help as they are easily adjustable.

Your size may be a bit large for these where custom is the route to go.

You didn't say what it opens into (driveway or yard), what about simple casters to roll on?

Depends why it is sagging. Some gates get old and rot, so you may need to replace the part that swings. Check the angles and see if they're all straight 90 degrees.
Sometimes the post that the gate hangs off tilts under the weight of the gate. The easiest way is digging a hole in the opposite direction of tilt, inserting a small post, concreting around it (the usual procedure) and attaching a wire or chain at the top of gate holding post and anchoring it to your brand new stumpy one. colorbond fence

Need a real picture of the gate not just an overhead drawing.

If the posts supporting the hinges are sturdy enough and not moving the turnbuckles will work. If not, wheels are a solution. It's that or finding a way to stiffen up the gate posts.

Do you want it your way or the right way?
