Rotten wood replacement in a window frame - help!

Hi there, and thanks in advance for any help you can offer with this!

I've had some storm windows built to replace some really old ones that were starting to rot. On first examination, it looked like the sash were rotten but the frame itself was in good shape. And it mostly is. But in preparing the frame today I noticed that about a 3-4" chunk of one corner is rotten. I managed to stick a screwdriver in there and wiggle it around a bit....

The question is - what next? How do I go about replacing the rotten part and ensuring that doesn't happen again?

This is an older 100+ year old house, with stucco around the wood frame for the windows.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!

A pressure treated wood would work better. If that's on the outside the best solution would be to replace the wood with metal. It's basically a metal frame that you screw in and it has a 1/2" lip that the window will catch and sit in. Put that in then slide the window in and caulk.

This is a common repair--although not a simple job it can be done with some patience and the right tools.

The tools----a Multi tool with a few different blades---a table saw---sander and the usual hand tools.

Use Cyprus----old growth fir--or red wood---green treated is to wet to use----

For the side repair---remove the window if the rot extends behind it---Draw a level line above the rot---make an cut on the line ----angle the tool upward so the new joint will be self draining--remove the bad wood---

Using the table saw---reproduce the removed wood---prime----install with Gorilla Glue--wedge the place until the glue is set----sand and re prime--use epoxy wood filler if you didn't get a perfect fit.

Thank you so so much! I don't own a table saw but I'll see if I can get something cut to size for me at the local lumber yard or Home Depot or something! Otherwise, those all sound like steps I can follow!
