Replacing stained baseboard over carpet

I am wanting to replace the stained baseboard in our dining room with painted baseboard. Problem is the room is carpeted. Can this be accomplished?

What are you concerned about? The removal, the install, or the paint? You original SHOULD be raised up off the floor 1/2" or so, so that the carpet can tuck underneath it, and should make removal easier too so you don't start pulling up your carpet too. When reinstalling just put the new base right on top of your carpet, maybe push it down just slightly so it looks tucked in again. Just make sure to paint the base before you install, then you can come back later and just touch up nail holes. much easier than taping off carpet.

Are you wanting to replace it just to have painted base mold? Or do you just want to replace it, different style, different height, whatever?

You should be able to paint right over the stain.
