replacing outdoor steps

Hello, now that the weather is warming up I need to address my outdoor steps which are falling apart. The previous owner hadn't graded the area properly so the part by the steps slopes back towards the house and the wooden steps are rotting as they are in direct contact with the ground.

My question is once I regrade the area to provide a proper slope I will only have 16 inches or so from the top of the concrete to the finished grade so I figure that a traditional step wouldn't work as I will only have one tread unless I make the rise very small.
My intial thoughts are to make a 2x3 platform and set it on some precast concrete piers with about a 7 inch rise. Is this the best plan of action or is their a better solution, one of my concerns is that it wouldn't be connected to the house.

Thanks Rudy

Hello and welcome Rudy, the best DIY'r site on the web.

A precast step sounds like the easiest route to go on your problem.

Places that sell pavers will have a ton of options.

Thanks for the replys I hadn't thought of a pre cast concrete step. I will have to see how expensive that option is as i don't have alot of money to spend. How would one attach the steps to the existing concrete landing, would you attach a wooden ledger to the concrete landing and then rest the step on top of that?
