Hi All-Having trouble posting picture so will describe problem....front door has windows on each side and sill runs under the whole thing ...it is a wooden sill and is rotting (it has been repaired with putty before now needs to be replaced......I am wondering if the sill can be cut and replaced on each side of the door and under door ??? or does the whole font door and side windows have to be taken out? If the sill under the sidelights (windows) is not rotten, I see no reason not to cut the sill below the door only and replace. Be warned that once the sill is out you may find that there is sub floor damage to repair before you install a new sill.

Replacing Frontdoor sill

I'd remove the entire unit from the opening. If the sill is rotted the subfloor and possibly the floor and rim joists are too.
If you are not experienced with doing this, buy some plywood and 2x4's ahead of time to close up the opening in you can't complete it in a day.

Ditto what Ron said, pull the whole unit and make the repairs on the sub floor and framing. Install a new one piece cell on the door/ sidelight unit and reinstall.
