Replacing bathroom wall tiles

We are replacing several broken wall tiles in the bathroom. We have removed the broken tiles and need to remove the thinset (?) that was left behind. some of the broken tiles are in the middle of other good tiles, so removing the sheetrock is not really a viable solution. Suggestions as to the best/easiest way to remove the stuff left behind when we removed the tiles?
Thanks!

Fein Multimaster oscillating tool - or equivalent - with the appropriate blade - or hammer+1" cold chisel...

Any metal scraper or chisel will remove the old adhesive.
