replacement entry door is smaller

Contractor says replaced entry door is smaller. The metal jam where the lock goes should have wood support. There is no cap in the hollow space where the lock mechanism should go when the door is shut. I can reach down into the hole where the lock should go. (1)Shouldn't there have been additional wooden support under that metal jam? (2)At the bottom of the door entry, there was supposed to be a metal extension to make the door entry airtight. Subcontractor claims that the tiles in front of the door is almost level with the jamb and therefore they can't fix it. You can see light and air at the bottom. Having read your site, I can see that it probably can be fixed.

A picture would help illustrate your problem, but from the description it sounds like your contractor did not finish the job. Hopefully you have not paid them yet. But yes, these issues can probably be rectified.

You're not using standard terminology so it would really help if you posted photos of all the issues. Look at the photos before you post them to make sure they tell the story.
