Repairing Damaged Wood on Garage

Hi, I am in the process of repainting my house and garage. Right now I'm trying to repair whatever possible. I was wondering what ideas people had for repairing the wood damage seen in the pictures. Also, there is a chunk missing from a cinder block and was looking to see if anyone had any tips on this repair as well. Thanks.

Hi, where are you located? How old is the home? You definitely have some water intrusion. Is the block broken all of the way through? Like, is it cracked on the inside of the garage as well? You seem to be pretty handy with the camera and gave us some up close photos, any way you can take a few steps back and give us an overall view so we can see the siding/stucco or whatever is on the exterior of your home?

Show some photos of the entire door and how the closing mechanism and guide channels are attached to the frame.

If it were mine I would pull the old frame out and put in a new one of pressure treated lumber. Anything in that close proximity to the concrete floor is going to wick a lot of water and rot away again. As for the broken block...I would finish breaking the old one out and cut and replace it with a new one. Probably a 1 hour job.

I'm going to leave this one alone. But by the crack in the slab about midway of the garage door makes me think the corner of your foundation is actually sinking. On the close up of the broken bottom block the other 3-4 blocks in that area are actually separating as well. And as far as your old aluminum siding apparently back in the day they didn't have any kind of J-track to keep the water from intruding , nor did they have corner caps as well. This one might be for an old timer to figure out. Hope all goes well.
