removing glue from studs

I'm helping to renovate a house that had some damage after a fire. Problem is, it is a prefab home and the drywall was glued to the studs. A lot of the drywall was pulled away from the studs. The old glue, along with some of the drywall, is still on the studs and will have to be removed before new drywall can be installed. Is the only solution scraping or can it be gotten off some other way? Taking forever to do it this way. If anybody has done this before and knows an easier way it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum CramerH.

I’d just run a Sawzall down the face of the studs and clean them right up.

You could use a belt sander with coarse grit, or a power hand planer if you can get your hands on one.
