I am confused too by the prices. My husband and I have a small galley style kitchen with wood cabinets from the fifties. The first reface estimate was $5500! I thought that was high. Have other companies telling me I can get all new cabinets for that price! We need counter tops replaced (just laminate) new sink, faucet and new vinyl flooring. I'm now thinking of just doing a really good paint job on the cabinets myself putting on all new hinges, closers, and knobs and sanding, priming, taking my time and doing it correctly to save some money? With the money I save on not getting new cabinets I could buy all new stainless or "silver mist" appliances to get a more modern look than my eight yr old white appliances and still have money left over? Should I get the counter tops installed first and the floor and then pick paint colors for my cabinets that would go with those? I'd take the doors off of course.
