Redoing Basement after flood

I've redone the weeping tile, put in a new sump pit and water proofed the out side walls with Blue Skin. Also put 2" of Rigid insulation on the outside walls. My question is if I'm putting up Rigid insulation on the inside walls do I still need to use a vapour barrier against the concrete. Since I already have a vapour barrier on the other side of the wall, the Blue Skin. How about if I use Bat insulation?

Lots of debate about that vapor barrier--

I would not use one--just a bat insulation with a vapor barrier on the conditioned side of the wall--

There are several members with extensive knowledge---hopefully one will see this and offer a good explanation on insulating a basement wall---

Methods change in really cold climates--so adding your location will get the best answers

For a basement, I would do neither Batt or vapor barrier. Either use XPS, with the seams tucktaped or Spray foam, after framing the walls, and doing rough ins. If doing the floor, XPS on the floor, seams tucktaped, then lay the OSB or Exterior grade ply down on top. That is just my two cents.

Thank you for heads up. We recently redid floors in that area and I put down Dry Core. The water was high enough in spots to get the wafer-board wet. But in other areas was just damp. But even with a dehumidifier going we still had a hell of a time trying to get water from underneath the Dry Core. Was looking at a different idea for the floors. But not doing anything till I'm 100% sure I've got the water from getting in.

Consider ceramic tile for the floor---properly set it can take a flood without any damage.

Under tile heating is possible---

if using drywall in the basement I'd recommend using a paperless product. if normal drywall board gets wet then the mold can feed on the paper, without paper no food ...... food for thought

sounds like you were the one of about 6000 that got flooded in Tbay. i would not put vapour barrier on the concrete it will trap moisture. frame up your walls using pressure treat on the sill then put batt insulation min. of r12 keeping the insulation roughly 12" up from the sill. accoustical seal everything then put up a 6mm vapour barrier. and dricore is definitly the way to go unless your putting i tiles.
