Rectangular wood recess
Hi everyone, I am completely new to carpentry so excuse my ignorance. I am building a poker table top, which will have a felt covered rectangular piece.
The felt gaming area was easy enough as it is just a rectangle. However, the second part of my project involves making a secondary piece that will line the entire gaming area so that I can drill holes in the make hanging cup holders in. I want to create a recess in the middle that the gaming area can fit so that it won't move around on the second piece (see attached picture). What would be the best way to go about this? Keep in mind I am not all familiar with advanced names etc.
The felt gaming area will take up the entirety of the table top itself, so it is not possible to just make a rim of wood around the outside since it would just fall down.
A plywood base with a 'ring' of wood that would fit around your felt top.
