our project is a 10x10 bedroom in which we are wanting to raise the ceiling to the roof rafters thus making like a cathedral ceiling type thing, anyhow my question is do you drywall to the rafters that go then to the roof plywood or any need of insulation in that space? I have read alot on here and am confused. any help would be great. if this helps weigh your answer we live in Georgia so no we don't get snow , maybe a day or two nothing that piles up. Thank you to anyone who can help.
The ceiling joists that you plan to remove are very likely to be structural members. Check with an engineer before removing them. The rafters will probably need to be beefed up in order to remove the ceiling joists without causing the roof to sag. Only then should you be concerned with the insulation.
