Question about replacing fascia and soffit paneling

Hey gang,

We are getting some superb weather this weekend here in western NY, gonna reach the 80's!!! so I thought this was a good time to get this project knocked off. I removed the gutters and gutter spikes tonight and hopefully will have this done by Saturday before it rains.

I am going to replace my partially rotted fascia and soffit paneling. I have a ranch house. The exisitng fascia is 1x6 painted pine and the soffit material is 1/4" plywood painted.

I plan on using pre primed 1x6 pine again and paint it. What type of fasteners would be best for the fascia boards? I have on hand alot of ring shank stainless 6d 2" nails that I use for my cedar siding, would these work?

The soffit material I plan on using BC plywood, either 1/4" again or 3/8" prime it then paint it, again should I use any specific fasteners like galvanized or stainless, or would bright common work fine for both fascia and soffits.

Any other things I sould be aware of please chiime in, this is my first fascia and soffit project

Thanks for any input

Question about replacing fascia and soffit paneling

Yes, I will likely use 4" round soffit vents.
