Are you a customer asking this question or a contractor? IF your a contractor I suggest you ask over at www.contractortalk.com .
Most contractors will put a lien on your home.

Take them to small claims court or as Nathan says, you could put a lien on the home. This can cause major headaches for them as it goes on their credit record and in order for them to sell the home, that lien has to be lifted. To have the lien lifted, their lawyer makes sure you are paid out of the proceeds.
