Pricing questions never end well here----To many variables----

Will you have a carpenter on the job for other work--or will he need to drive out just for that?

Will the selling expense be included in this cost? Will the carpenter also be supplying the materials and fasteners?

What do carpenters earn in your area? Salesmen?

My guess----about one days wages----although the actual work should only take 2 or 3 hours.

like mike said too many variables. .is the existing level and flat or does it need shimming to make the ceiling flat.

if its simply shot on the ceiling its a really quick task for 2 competant carpenters though you wont get a bill for straight time for something like that.. they`ll prob charge a set amount + travel time along with materials and fasteners

Ummm... a lot more than with the 1x3 furring strips actually needed?

maybe they need the extra clearance do to thicker pipes being stapled to the underside of the joists or to make a new ceiling line up with a old one so drywall carries straight through.. i have to do this every now and again on additions

Why not just do it yourself and save the money? It''s a 101 job.

since this is a DIY website I'd say it would cost nothing for labor, only materials ......
