Polymer coated bar top

I am pouring a polymer bar top which I have done before and have it pretty well down. This time I am putting a arm rail (5-1/4" cherry) around the bar on top of the polymer after it is cured. My question is will a 18 ga. brad nail go through the polymer and will it not damage the polymer?

The nails or brads will shatter the finish---sooner or later---

Install the bar rail first or add a nailing strip to the edge that is as thick as your pour and wide enough to support the bar rail.---Mike---

What about screwing up through the bottom of the bar top into the rail? (obviously using appropriate length screws as not to pierce the surface of the rail)
