poly before or after

Alright, here is th deal. Just finished redoing our hardwood floors, and i ditched all the old molding because it was painted. I am ging to buy oak molding, and the question is, should I finish it before or after I install it?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Doing the finish first is the only way I'd do it.

Much easier to finish it standing up and not having to deal with the wall or floor.

Stain it. Finish it first. Install it. Wood putty it. Touch it up with poly if the putty shows or bothers you.
