Plywood Baseboard

The door in the attached image is similar to our new doors. The second photo shows the cap. When considering plywood for the 6" baseboard, I was thinking that a solid oak cap like in the picture would dress out the baseboard nicely.

At this point, I'm still comparing options. I need to get to a good ole lumber yard for prices on oak.

Plywood Baseboard

If you use plywood, then biscuit joints might be a good option for the ends.

You might think through which areas will be more visible -- There might be some rarely seen areas where pretty much anything brown would work, and there might be some that you'll look at all the time.

Likewise, you might have a lot of short runs, and other areas where the joints can be mitigated.
