Please help!!

i am a stay at home mom who knows nothing about carpentry and I could really use your help.....
my patio tabletop (thick glass) broke during the hurricane. If possible, i would like to keep the base (looks like wrought iron but i think it is plastic or some really light metal) and put a new top on it. The base is quite large, about 40 inches wide and 90 inches long. Which material can i use that is not too heavy for the base, but is outdoor appropriate? thank you very much.

Have you called a glass shop to see what a piece of replacement glass would cost? Did you like the glass top or did you want to switch to something else.
What were the dimensions? We can figure weight out from them and make suggestions. Can you post a picture of the base?

Many different possibilities from wood, stone, concrete, and glass.
Pictures would be great.

If you don't want glass again, plywood or cement board with tiles cemented on and grouted looks great. It can get heavy, though.
