plastic laminate countertop, gaps between pieces

I installed new plastic laminate over an existing plastic laminate covered countertop than is 30 feet long. After several days the gaps, the butt joints, between pieces, which were tight upon completion, started to open. The new material was acclimated for 3 days before installation. What happened? How do I correct?

Installer error.I would never install laminate over laminate. How did you seam the butt joints ?Were they over an existing joint on the old laminate or substrate?Did you let the glue build up at the joint? Did you roll the joint out?
Pics would help.

At this point all you can do is start over or buy some seam filler that matches the HPL, not much else can be done.
