Plastic on basement wall

My house is 4 years old and has a walk out basement and the builder put plastic on the walk-out side wall, the 3 other walls are cement. My question is, I'm finishing my basement and I'm wondering if I should keep the plastic and put drywall on top of it or remove the plastic? I'm not sure what the plastic is for, vapor barrier? or just to cover up the fiber insulation for the meantime?

Thanks.

kupalino....if the insulation is'nt paper faced, leave it.

On the walls that you build and butt up to it have that vapor barrier overlap in the corner and use a "house wrap" type tape to seal the 2. If you dont use paper faced insulation. Non paper faced insulation is alot cheaper.

Is the walk out wall a wood framed wall?

yes, the walk out side wall is wood framed wall with unfaced batt insulation.
